Hot off the heels of an extended birthday for Catrena, we’re both tired (need a vacation from our vacation) and unmotivated (work is for jerks). I’ve gotten back into Ninja Gaiden 2 Black which is great, but I’m playing it remotely on the steamdeck and my xbox one controller does not have a screenshot button, which is a bummer because I love screenshotting games when I play (especially over-the-top cinematic games like NG2B). I had been working so much on the games section that I had stopped playing them, which is what the entire point of that blog is. At some point I started to let the boat stear me instead of the other way around. At a certain point I cannot let this website overtake my free time because just like most creative projects you could tinker it to death and back 1000 times. A friend (who is currently developing a certified dank website right now) said:
You’ve got a working site and a reliable content stream - playing with shit to see how changes feel to you is really all you need to be doing.
And he’s right! Tinker away, but use the goddamn thing and see what you need to add, organically. Right now it functions! I’ve got a great gallery section setup for sharing analog photos agnostic of a digital ecosystem. I’ve got a microblog (complete with stupid applet made in automator). The games section is up and running, supports micro-blogging and tracking completed games by year as well as long form articles and section-specific taxonomy. I’ve got a kick-ass camera database (that is woefully waiting for an update) that keeps track of which galleries were shot with which camera (that right there is the fucking juice). And an about/changelog that I continue to remember to update! That changelog maybe too long at this point but who cares, lets let it ride.
So all in all, I’m going to keep using this site, I’m going to keep updating the sections with content and as I see it, as I neeeeeed it, I’ll keep tinkering on the back end. As my old boss used to say “You’ve got to keep the ship going” and I plan on doing just that.
