Would you look at that! Nintendo has surprised us with an announcement that tomorrow morning (7AM for this West Coast dweller) they shall grace us with a Nintendo Direct! And for all of you champing at the bit for information on the elusive Nintendo Switch 2, they have also announced NO INFORMATION for that will be shared. This is going to be a send-off, the last hurrah of the little hybrid console that spawned an entirely new industry. So I thought I’d try something new here, I’ve polled some friends and asked for their predictions on what they think we’ll see tomorrow. On to the predictions!
My friend and Monster Hunting companion, SlurpeeZombie has his sights set on something that we’ve all been waiting for but haven’t heard much about until very recently, Metroid Prime 4. His predictions:
My fiancée is a little less hopeful about the line-up, thinking that there could be quite a bit of filler in the 30-some-odd minute presentation.
Rappy has some good predictions with one of them being almost a no-brainer, as the game feels almost too suited for the switch to not be on it.
I’m thinking more with my wishlist than anything elese here, because nothing would please me more than a port of the remaining Zelda games that we are missing.
I like my list here but with Nintendo Directs, who knows?! The completionist in me really would love to have the final major Zelda games show up on this system because then, the switch would be THE ULTIMATE ZELDA MACHINE OF ALL TIME! I also think they could be throwing one last hail mary to intice new people to the platform by finally putting out Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow, either as some kind of standalone package or maybe on the NSO (I’m reminded of those 2DS units at the end of that lifecycle). Most Pokémon stuff happens in their own presentations but THESE ARE PREDICTIONS! There are no rules here! The last thing I could see is a follow-up to the Yakuza announcement with other entries into the series! Make the switch a Yakuza machine.
A few other things discussed are the few Wii U games that haven been left by the wayside that don’t need the dual-screen setup to properly function. Of those games my personal hope would be to re-release Devil’s Third, a Nintendo published character action game that was not well received in America, but apparently did much better in Japan. Which leads me to wonder if this game ever really got a fair shake.
If I could lob a last minute hope against hope than the last thing I would love to see is a port of NieR: Replicant. Come, join your younger sibling and make your way onto Nintendo’s handheld, we would love to see you there. While your at it, repackage the mobile game and bring that along as well.
Whatever happens tomorrow, I hope that everyone watching has fun and we all get to see some cool games coming our way!
